RV Financing for Newcomers: Explore Your New Home

Welcome to Canada! There is no better way to explore the stunning landscapes of your new home—from Algonquin Park to the Rocky Mountains—than in an RV. At RV Canada, we understand that as a newcomer, you might not have a Canadian credit history yet. That’s okay. We work with major lenders (including Scotiabank, RBC, and TD) who offer specialized "Start Right" and Newcomer Financing Programs. We can help you secure a loan for a Travel Trailer or Motorhome, allowing you to discover Canada while establishing a strong credit score for your future.

Can I Finance an RV with No Canadian Credit?

Yes. One of the biggest challenges for new immigrants is the "Thin Credit File"—meaning you have no bad debt, but no history either. Traditional automated systems might reject you, but our Finance Managers know how to manually submit your file under Newcomer Programs. Because an RV is a secured asset (collateral), lenders are more willing to approve you than they would be for an unsecured credit card.

Who Is Eligible?

Our programs generally cover:

  • Permanent Residents (Landed Immigrants): If you have your PR card, you have access to similar rates as Canadian citizens.

  • Foreign Workers (Work Permits): If you hold a valid work permit, we can often align the term of your loan with the length of your permit.

  • International Students: In select cases, with a co-signer or strong down payment.

What Documents Will I Need?

To get approved, you typically need to provide "The 3 Pillars" of stability:

  1. Status in Canada: A copy of your PR Card, IMM Form, or Work Permit.

  2. Income Verification: A job letter and recent pay stubs showing you are employed full-time in Canada.

  3. Social Insurance Number (SIN): To register the loan and start tracking your credit.

The Importance of a Down Payment

For Newcomers with no credit history, a Down Payment is your best tool for approval. Lenders may ask for 10% to 25% down. This reduces their risk and proves your financial commitment.

  • Tip: If you brought savings with you to Canada, using a portion of it as a down payment on an RV is a smart move. It allows you to finance the rest and start building a credit score.

Build Your Canadian Credit Score Fast

In Canada, your Credit Score is essential for renting apartments, buying a house, or getting a cell phone plan. An RV loan is an "Installment Loan." Making regular, on-time payments on your RV is one of the fastest ways to build a high credit score from scratch. By the time you are ready to buy your first home in Canada, your RV loan will have given you the "A+" payment history banks look for.
