The Maritime Explorer

This is the ultimate Canadian road trip—a journey to the edge of the continent. The "Maritime Explorer" takes you from the forests of Ontario, through the heart of Quebec, and out to the rugged coasts of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island (PEI), and Nova Scotia. This is a trip for those who want to see it all: the world's highest tides, red sand beaches, and the highlands of Cape Breton.

We recommend a minimum of 21 days for this adventure. It covers approximately 3,500km, and you won't want to rush. Renting a round-trip from Ottawa is a smart financial move; you avoid the exorbitant "One-Way Drop Fees" (often $1,000+) charged for dropping a vehicle in Halifax, and airfare to/from Ottawa is often cheaper than regional Maritime airports.

Why This Route is Best by RV:

The Maritimes are famous for their coastal drives and seaside campgrounds. Imagine parking your motorhome on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Fundy, or right next to a lighthouse in PEI.

  • New Brunswick: Visit the Hopewell Rocks to walk on the ocean floor at low tide. Drive the Fundy Trail Parkway for incredible views.

  • Prince Edward Island: Drive your RV across the Confederation Bridge (an experience in itself!). Visit Green Gables, eat fresh mussels, and camp at Cavendish Beach.

  • Nova Scotia: The highlight is the Cabot Trail. This winding coastal highway is one of the world's most beautiful drives. Your RV handles the hills easily, and the campgrounds in Cape Breton Highlands National Park offer front-row seats to the Atlantic Ocean.

Long-Term Rental Advice:

For a trip of this duration, ask us about our Unlimited Kilometer Packages. Paying per kilometer can add up on a 4,000km trip; bundling it upfront gives you peace of mind to take that scenic detour without watching the odometer.
