We know that renting a vehicle abroad can be stressful, especially when it comes to insurance. Terms like CDW, Liability, and Deductible can be confusing. At RV Canada Ottawa, we believe in total transparency. We want you to enjoy your holiday without worrying about "What if?"

Our rental rates include basic insurance coverage, but for international travelers, we strongly recommend understanding our Peace of Mind packages. These packages are designed to reduce your financial risk (deductible) in the unlikely event of an accident or damage.

Key Terms Explained:

• Public Liability Insurance:

  • This covers damage you might cause to other people or their property. All our rentals include $5 Million CAD in Third Party Liability coverage, which is significantly higher than the industry standard.

• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW):

  • This covers damage to our vehicle.

  • Standard Deductible: Without an upgrade, you are responsible for the first portion of any damage (e.g., $2,500 or $5,000 depending on the unit).

  • Deductible Reduction: You can purchase a daily waiver to lower this responsibility significantly (e.g., down to $500). We highly recommend this for peace of mind.

• What About Windshields & Tires?

  • On Canadian highways, gravel chips can crack windshields. Ask about our specific coverage for "Glass and Tire" protection, as these are often excluded from standard policies.

• Travel Insurance:

  • Your personal travel insurance from home (e.g., Allianz, AXA) may cover the deductible! Check your policy before you travel. We can provide you with the necessary paperwork to claim reimbursement from them if needed.
